Prayer Requests
October 29, 2007
Greetings in Christ From the Roberts!
We are so thankful for all your prayers and encouragement. We know that God is sovereign and yet wants us to pray. As James says, the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Thank you.
Here is a brief update:
In regard to Calvin: Earlier in October, Calvin’s behaviors got to the point that we needed help, and had to call the police. He had a preliminary court hearing on the 15th, and the judge sent him back home pending another hearing on November 1. In the meantime, we received word yesterday that he was approved for disability Medicaid, which will appreciably increase the options we have available to us to get help for him. Also, a week ago his doctor took him off one medication, and since then we have not had any violent episodes. The court has asked for an evaluation and recommendations from his doctor.
PRAISE THE LORD for the approval of Medicaid, and for the lessening of anger recently.
PLEASE PRAY for the hearing on the 1st, that God will work in the people involved, and that they will do what is best for Calvin. Pray also for Calvin, that God would draw him to Himself, and help him in his whole being: mental, cognitive, physical, emotional, behavioral and spiritual. Pray too that we would find the right kind of help for him.
In regard to the ministry: For the whole month of August and part of September, we did not meet. Since then, we have had services weekly in a Choctaw family home, and have had a fairly consistent attendance. There are some families that have not returned, though. We are going through the basics of the Christian faith using the Apostles’ Creed as a guide.
PRAISE THE LORD that services have been consistent recently.
PLEASE PRAY that God would so allow us to continue meeting in the home on the Redwater reservation. Pray also that attendees would grasp spiritual things and grow in their faith. Pray that other Choctaws would attend as well.
Other family matters: I’m continuing in classes at seminary. I’m thankful that I have to go to Jackson only two times a week this semester. Nancy has completed her seasonal job at Geyser Falls Water Park; she loved working there (and we sure miss the income!). Becky still has not found employment, and is helping Nancy around the home. I celebrated a birthday on October 21 and Nancy has her birthday on November 4; we are thankful to the Lord for another year passed to serve Him.
PLEASE PRAY that Becky would find gainful employment; her student loans have begun to require repayment. Pray too that we would have sufficient funds to keep going; we have experienced a drop in giving lately and our account at MNA is a bit slim. We have not, however, been in want; God has provided for us. We are so thankful to Him.
Thank you again for your prayers, your support and your encouragement. We so appreciate you being on our team!
In Christ,
Ken Roberts
