Alaska – Native Ministry
Amanda Hunt has ministered with SEND International as a short-term missionary for three summers and is now excited to join the SEND team for a three-year term. She desires to see the native people of the North trust Jesus as their Savior and begin sharing Him with others. Her vision for Alaska is three-fold: first, Amanda will join the summer ministry as a staff member, allowing her to share Jesus through camp counseling and kids’ clubs in various villages throughout Western Alaska as well as training young adults in village ministry. Second, she will foster a growing children and youth ministry while living in an Alaskan village. Third, Amanda hopes to use her past experiences with the public school system and other church-planting agencies to unite people for one purpose in Alaska – sharing Jesus.
Amanda was raised in a Christian home and trusted Jesus as her Savior at a young age. From personal experience, Amanda is convinced that Christian camps, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, and other children and youth ministries are essential. Reaching native youth, even with simply a song or memory verse that comes back to their minds later in life, is imperative for stopping the cycle of despair and hopelessness in the villages.
Among Alaska Natives:
* Fetal Alcohol Syndrome rates are seven times the national average
* Child abuse rates are six times the national average
* Murder rates are four times the national average
* Suicide rates are four times the national average
This despair and hopelessness can be conquered in and through Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:23-24, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.”

Amanda, your dad put this on for us. We rejoice how you are being used in Alaska.
It was so nice having your family with us. We really had a good time.
Love,
Grandma
